Hey, folks, we’re back from our midsummer break. We could not ask for a better guest for our return than the amazing Chantel Morrigan. Chantel is the co-director of Jacoby Arts Center and joined us to discuss their new location. After announcing their move to 208 State Street last February, the non-profit is now located in the former location of State Street Market (which has since moved to Elsah).
The move came after Jacoby’s former landlords, AltonWorks, increased their rent cost and decreased spacing. While we did touch on that a bit, our main focus was directed toward the future of Jacoby. They do certainly have much less space - around 4,000 square feet instead of more than double that. We discuss the challenges and opportunities coming from the move.
Most of the plans for the future include working toward arts education and supplies for children of our community as well as providing space to do the sort of art folks can’t just do in their offices, basement, or garages (like clay working). Chantel is stoked to brag about their newest moves.
If you want to support the mission of Jacoby, watch this video, follow them on social media, and don’t be afraid to be a continuous donor. Here’s a link to do just that.
